KXAN reports on $2 million lost at Taylor Housing Authority
KXAN reported that, in addition to losing the value of the property, Taylor Housing Authority's (THA) operating income decreased more than $300,000 in 2008, as a result of the apartment complex management change allegedly initiated by the then Executive Director, Steven Shorts.
The federal government, using our taxpayer's money, had to increase funding for THA by $574,077, following the drop in income, according to the audit.
The KXAN story gives some insight to the story. There has been a civil lawsuit filed by THA. But, no criminal complaint has been filed. The Defendants' lawyer claims there were no allegations of criminal conduct, but, page 4, paragraphs 18 and 19 of the the lawsuit filed by THA in 2015 clearly states there were criminal violations.
